This waffle sandwich quickly became a holiday favorite in our family because of its unique flavor combination and ease of assembly.

Ingredients

  • Waffles: 8 frozen or homemade waffles
  • Sandwich Fillings: 8 slices cooked turkey breast (about 300 g) , 4 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese , 4 tbsp cranberry sauce , 4 tbsp mayonnaise (optional) , 1 cup baby spinach or arugula leaves
  • For Serving: Softened butter (optional) , Powdered sugar (optional , for a sweet touch)

Instructions

Toast the waffles:
Toast the waffles according to package instructions or until crisp and golden.
Spread mayonnaise:
Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on four waffles , if using.
Layer fillings:
Layer each with 2 slices of turkey , 1 slice of cheese , 1 tbsp cranberry sauce , and a handful of spinach or arugula.
Form sandwich:
Top each with a second waffle to form a sandwich.
